England is already amongst the least trans inclusive countries in the world.

Yet Johnson (along with Putin, Orban, Trump and Bolsonaro) is weaponising the rights and dignities of a minority for political advantage.
Some feminists are finding common cause with the religious right.

In the UK some self-described 'Gender Critical' feminists are supporting the "Alliance for Defending Freedom" on trans rights, despite the latter's implacable opposition to a woman's right to an abortion.
There is too little interest in the actual experience of what self-id means in countries that have adopted it.

(There is an appalling avalanche of sexual violence against women in the UK. But the evidence does not suggest it has anything to do with self-id.)
The lived realities of transgender children are basically ignored.

Their lives become the place where the culture wars are fought - which has appalling consequences for their day to day reality, and their ability to access the medical care you and I take for granted.
"If, like me, you are not trans yourself, it is important to remember that there are bodies on the Pink Line, lives and livelihoods that depend on how these culture wars resolve themselves."
Anyway. I know I bang on about it. I'm sorry for that, if it's not your bag. I kind of think, what's the point of having a big platform if you don't use it to fight for the things you care about.
