1. I’ve just learned that I was blocked by a terribly unpleasant person who showed up in my mentions on Friday attacking a friend I was having a conversation with. When I went over to their timeline I found out they were wildly misrepresenting stuff so I called them out.
2. I was in a rush to leave and didn’t take the time to archive or screenshot which I really regret right now.

Rather than engage with my completely valid criticism, they deleted their tweets and blocked us and posted performative tweets about doing so.
3. It was a great example of white people who usurp authority in Asian/Asian American spaces to misrepresent us on the basis of what -some- Asians/AAs who they agree with think and then use that false authority to shame/abuse other white people whose views they don’t like.
4. These are often the same folks who subscribe to “stay in your lane” and “check your privilege”.
5. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how to teach people how to spot people abusing false authority and how to resist their abuse. I haven’t come up with anything I think is fully coherent yet but I’m hoping to share some thoughts on this in the coming weeks.
