GW31+ Stat Attack: An analysis thread of some stats in the last GW (or 2).
Stats courtesy @FFScout & @FFH_HQ
You'll know the source of inspiration for this as you read along.
At the expense of not being a copy cat, here it goes 👇
1. Over the last 2 GWs, Auba has registered 12 shots (S), 6 in the box (ITB), 5 on target (OT) & 1 big chance (BC). In this period he also has a Delta xG of -1.06, the 2nd worst amongst all forwards. Clearly Auba is due a goal & with Norwich up next, he should have enough
chances to reward his owners who have kept faith.

2. Continuing the theme of underperforming forwards, DCL registered 7 S, 4 ITB & 4 OT all highest amongst forwards in GW31+. However, a concerning stat for owners of Everton assets is that they have registered only 1 BC in the..
last 2 GWs & DCL hasn't been at the end of it. To put this in context, they created 24 BCs b/w GWs 23-29 & DCL registered 11 BCs in the same period & converted 3 of them. DCL's reliance on these BC is massive too. He has scored 13 Goals this season, 10 of which have been BCs.
Clearly Everton's lack of BC is a concern for him & other Everton assets.

3. Man United had created 2.10 BC/game before GW30+ & have created 3.5 BC/game since. United have created 68 BCs this season with Martial registering 17 of them, which means 1 in every 4 BC falls to him.
Those numbers look even better when you consider that he has taken just 1 of the 11 penalties (BC) United have been awarded this season.

4. Another player to have caught the eye but missed the limelight this GW was Rashford. He registered 2 S, 2 ITB, 3 chances created (CC) and
2 big chances created (BCC) in GW31+. Rashford impressively has had 24 of the 68 BC created by United indicating he might hog more of the BCs for United. However, if we remove pens from this then he has the same no. of BCs as Martial (17). Rashford has the slightly better..
assist potential than Martial as he has created 28 chances to Martial's 22, however both of them have created the same no. of BCs (6). With penalty duties unclear at United, Martial looks the slightly better pick but expect Rashford to stake a claim in the next few GWs.
5. Brighton have conceded 0 big chances in the last 2 GWs. An impressive stat considering they've played Arsenal & Leicester. However, they have been conceding shots a decent rate. They've conceded 24 S (8th), 16 ITB (5th) & 8 OT (7th) in the last 2 GWs. It would be interesting..
to see how their defence holds up against an United attack looking lethal.

6. Kane registered 6 S (2nd), 3 ITB (3rd), 3 OT (1st) & 3 BCs (1st) in the current GW. He now faces a Sheffield United defence who have conceded 41 S (1st), 30 ITB (1st), 20 SOT (1st) & 9 BCs (1st) in..
last 2 GWs. A slight caveat to it is that they'll have Henderson & Egan back in the Spurs game. However, to counter that point, Sheffield had both of them available in the Newcastle game & still conceded 12S, 8 OT & 4 BCs. Add to that the fact they'll face Spurs with a 3 day..
turnaround whereas Spurs would have more than 7 days rest & all signs point to Spurs attackers doing well.

8. Tammy Abraham registered an xG of 2.29 vs City. An eyebrow raising stat, however it pales slightly when you put it into context. His xG came from just 3 SOT, 2 of which
were part of 1 move, the final shot of which resulted in the Fernandinho handball. Now, it's not to suggest that he's a bad option if he nails his place but in 2 GWs team when we look at his stats again, it's something to remember.

9. Villa's defensive numbers make for ..
interesting reading when put into context. Villa have conceded 37 shots in the last 3 matches (2GWs), however only 15 of them have been in the box at an average of 5 shots ITB/game. To put this into context, only Wolves, Man United, Liverpool & Everton have conceded lower than...
that on average. Villa have also conceded only 2 BCs in the same period, an average of less than 1 BC/game. Again only the aforementioned 4 teams & Brighton are the only one to have conceded fewer. All this suggest that maybe the Villa defence isn't as obliging as we all perceive
them to be.

10. Wolves have had 20 S (11th), 11 ITB (13th), 8 OT (9th) & 2 BCs (12th) in the last 2 GWs. Considering they've played West Ham (A) & Bournemouth (H), those numbers don't make for a very pleasant reading.
It's obvious that the inspiration behind this kind of analysis is none other than @BigManBakar
I've intentionally stayed away from his famous review for GW31+ so that I don't end up using some of his analysis. I hope our Big Man will forgive me if there is any overlapping 🙏
Hopefully I've provided something for the community to chew upon.
