I bought tickets to a live streamed musical this week, and though I didn't absolutely love it, it was really really well conceptualised, & got me thinking about the unaffordability of theatre in general, & alternative delivery methods. I was really lucky as a kid, because
my Mum was an actor, so we would always get to see her productions. But when I was 22, one of my Mum's friends who reviewed for a local paper went away for 8 weeks, and she asked me to stand in for her. I wasn't paid, but it meant I was sent free tickets to almost
every show in Sydney. During that 8 weeks, I saw about 30 shows, even though I could only review 8. It completely changed the way I though about writing for performance. I hope one positive takeaway the arts during the pandemic is increased access.
