All this talk about DC statehood brings me back to the idea that several large states should be split up. California, Texas, Florida, Colorado, Washington, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and others should all be split into many new states.

The state government has to approve and so does Congress, but let’s get a virtuous cycle of states splitting up. Let’s allow more policy competition and voting with one’s feet.

In case this is unclear, the big benefit of this is more jurisdictional competition and options for migration between states. I’m just using your obsession with the Senate to get an outcome that’s more important than your short term partisan interests.
