Let’s get these facts straight that @doug_schweitzer is failing to tell the public about Bill 16 (I can and will back with evidence. Surprise! Most of it is Bill 16, itself!)

Here comes the thread.
1) “Increased, expanded the fund for use for public safety initiatives” is a fancy way of saying it has been combined so that the bottom line stays the same but can be manipulated in a different way from the original, intended purpose (to help victims of violent crimes)
This is similar to my dad saying he has a combined 40 years’ worth of experience in construction & management - 2years construction, 38years management. The people he tells this know the split in advance. Great dad joke the 80th time we’ve heard it. Not such a great joke from UCP
2) Those of us opposing Bill 16 aren’t “scared by the NDP.” This is a disgusting view to have of people that they can’t think for themselves & are that easily manipulated. My sister @ntighe initiated a lot of this resistance after reading Bill16 & THEN reaching out to @JanisIrwin
3) He mentions the funds are available for people experiencing a “serious” sexual assault “y’know someone who has been like murdered.” All sexual assault is a serious crime and no, the funds aren’t available. That’s why we are trying to get you to listen. Listen to victims! NOW!
4) Part of the reason the funds are not available is because the crime has to be reported in 2 years when most sexual assault victims often take years to come forward - 83% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
Doubting what is going on? Check these out. It really is as bad as it sounds.
