A trader's journey [a thread]

The usual journey for a trader is that we start off chasing gains since it's what we see most of the time. Portsnaps of trades; giving a sense of hype. Nothing wrong actually. People can learn from portsnaps but tend to focus on the gains.
The moment we start trading ourselves, most of the snaps we can share are in red. Cut losses, fomo trades, guru blaming. We go through that. However, once we realize it's about us creating a system, we then spend so much time on the system development. then system hops.
We start to get frustrated, all these losses and not creating a positive result. Then we start from scratch, focus on a certain system. Backtesting and forward testing it. Tweaking it. This is the time that we learn about return rate. Making sure our setup will make us money.
we start to realize that we have to make sure our system is replicable and repeatable. Making the system mechanical allows us to calibrate it to a degree that it will make us money. Not that we will not take a loss but minimize our losses and optimize our gains.
Some ends their journey here and it's really fine. Some goes to the extent of creating automations for their setups since it is already at a point that it is really mechanical. Not necessarily a trading robot but tools that assist their decision making.
It's really up to the trader how far he/she wants to go. In conclusion, the point of this thread is not to bash people who post portsnaps but to redirect trader's attention to improve one's consistency.
We can use all the systems in the world that works but without consistency we'll not gain positive results. For sure, it will be better for a trader who just uses MACD crosses consistently vs a trader who jumps from one system to another.
Maybe it's time that we minimize sharing portsnaps but instead start share trading stats. For the profitable traders, sharing might give a sense of hope for new traders that it is really possible to achieve profitability.
In my own journey, i'm now forward testing a system that gives a return rate that is above 1. My journey continues from here and let's see where this goes. Hopefully, everyone else is also on the path of improvement in their journey.

Happy trading!
