THREAD:

HE'S BEHIND EU

1. I may of course be wrong on this, but I don't think so. The EU is heading into another 'existential crisis' as they like to call them, only this time I'm struggling to see a viable solution.
2. It's an old problem that never went away. The 2008 crash. Economist & political scientist, Mark Blyth, refers to what happened then as socialism for the banks & capitalism for the population. Member States bailed out the banks (socialism) & we all had to pick up the bill.
3. More than a decade of austerity which saw an entire continent stagnate economically. Lack of investment means we're years behind & instead of seeing the crash as a warning that an economy heavily reliant on services is unsound, we limped along.
4. When we look at the root cause of the issues, we can see mainland Europe is haunted by a past it cannot rid itself of & a psychosis which has been misapplied & the people misunderstood. It's a really serious error & one that is counterproductive.
5. I'm talking about Hitler. The EU/Europe are so fearful of fascism they've gone into overdrive with anything alluding to national pride. But they've misunderstood their citizens. They've tried to make Europe one big melting pot of 'citizens of nowhere' & it doesn't work.
6. They've deflated the economy persistently, fearful that inflation will be the trigger for another fascist insurgence. They've got it all so wrong & have produced a politically unstable, crumbling continent. EU meddling in national politics has been a disaster.
7. It has undermined & insulted the citizens & turned people against the EU. We saw with Brexit how they tried to cancel the vote. Soubry & Grieve taking themselves off to meet with Barnier. Swinson & Verhofstadt with their 'Bollocks to Brexit' campaign.
8. In Switzerland a similar stand off took place. The EU wanted a new treaty & the Swiss said 'no'. So the EU punished them by suspending Swiss shares being traded on European stock markets. The Swiss repaid in kind.
9. The EU were punishing the Swiss govt. for a referendum that went the 'wrong way'. Don't like a result, punish the country.

And earlier this year we saw Russia & China sending medical assistance to Italy whilst the EU messed about with its pandemic procurement programme.
10. They finally sent some PPE weeks after the Covid19 crisis had peaked. So much for unity.

And now the elephant in the room is a bit too big to ignore. The German Constitutional Court has clipped the European Central Bank's wings.
11. The litigation relates to concerns that the ECB has created schemes to grant itself powers which, under the Lisbon Treaty, rest with national governments. The ruling prevents the Bundesbank continuing with a bond purchasing scheme unless it can show proportionality.
12. Put simply, the quantitative easing measures must stop by August. The EU took its usual clumsy & bullish course of action & insulted those responsible. But I cannot see a way for the EU to squeeze its way out of this crisis without very serious consequences.
13. Germany has a written constitution which cannot be fundamentally amended without referendum - the power rests with the people. The main principles of democracy & fiscal autonomy cannot be removed or amended by the Bundestag - they don't have the power to do so.
14. So the emerging crisis has no kosher solution. The EU don't have the power to mutualise the debts of the Southern European countries facing economic collapse & if they go bang so does the Euro. But the German Constitutional Court has made clear the ECB cannot take more power.
15. It's not only Germany who have made known their concerns. Finland has also stated it won't support a fiscal package of bail outs. Meanwhile the clock is running down with no obvious solution in sight.
16. This crisis will be blamed primarily on the pandemic, but it runs much deeper. It's broken & those in charge don't have the skills to mend it. The political crisis is equally as serious as the economic crisis.
17. In short we have a 27 countries which are financially embarrassed with an increasingly agitated electorate who won't stand for more austerity, no matter if it's dressed up as a green deal - the Gilet Jaunes have shown us what people think of that.
18. We have a continent that has been left behind economically & technologically by the ghost of a man whose legacy haunts the minds of those on the mainland. Quite why our government is infected with the same fears regarding its own electorate is beyond me.
19. All the wokeness that's causing so much disquiet is based on something feared (fascism) that's impossible to perform without the backing of the government & armed forces.

I really can't see a few thousand BNP members sailing across the sea to invade Poland anytime soon.
20. Yet they fear the Nationalists more than the Communists, who would destroy everything in pursuit of an ideology that has never succeeded & which led to the murder & starvation of millions.
21. The very thing the political institutions have tried to prevent is stirring because no one is looking out for the interests of millions of normal people & the duty to protect our nation's heritage & institutions.

They've let the lunatics take over the asylums.
