The mayor's meeting with protesters this afternoon is being presented as if protesters were inexperienced, asking for things that weren't in her jurisdiction, etc.

This was by design. From what I can tell, not a single established organization was invited to the meeting.

Essentially they hosted a meeting and didn't invite any of the more experienced organizers, so that they could lecture those in attendance and come out looking like the "adults". It's patronizing and offensive.

One only need look at the tape from 2 weeks ago on the steps of city hall, with Jenny Durkan being absolutely demolished by Nikkita Oliver, to understand what they did with this meeting today.

This whole "the list of demands were naive and uninformed" narrative is going to spread.

There are at least two lists, with very precise, policy-focused demands... and those demands are supported by dozens of established groups. She intentionally kept that list off the table.
