Superhero Females in cinema-
The first known female superhero is Fantomah,featured in Jungle Comic-vol 2
A mysterious woman who saved the jungle and its animals by using her superpower
Some popular ones are Wonder Woman,Black Widow, Captain Marvel,Jessica Jones, Supergirl etc

Usually female heroes are team members barring some exceptions who got their standalone movie/series
The first standalone series Wonder Woman came in 1975, next movie came in 1984 Supergirl but it was only around 2015 when Netflix adopted Jessica Jones and people developed liking

India has not explored this genre too much and we have very few notable characters like Devi and Shakti in comics

Although some heroes of Indian origin featured in foreign comics like Aruna Shende is one of the Batgirl and Chandi Gupta aka Maya is a member of Justice League

The series Captain Vyom had some strong female presence like Lieutenant Maya the second hand command of Captain Vyom,Dr Zen,Shakti,Mohini etc.

Some Supervillains female are-Harley Quinn,Poison Ivy, Hela,Enchantress, Indian-Nagina,Miss Killer and yes we made negative Wonder Woman

Indian FSH got their powers from Goddesses
Shakti had a rather sad origin story-When she learned about her husband killing her newborn girls,she is enraged and at that moment Goddess Kali enters her body,transforming her
She can feel the pain and anger of all woman and saves them

Devi is a celestial warrior goddess created by the gods to fight the renegade god Bala,who rose to threaten the universe. She had led the armies of the gods and men to fight Bala and defeated him in hand to hand combat.
She is reincarnated again to fight and save the world

TV series Divya-Drishti tried to touch upon this genre by telling a story of twin sisters with superpowers who are fighting a villian named Pishachini
Their parents sacrificed their life to save the world from Pishachini but the story got lost in saas-bahu drama of Indian TV show

Character like Black Widow,Jean Grey,Jessica Jones, Catwoman,Gamora, Nebula,Talia-al-Ghul,Scarlet Witch all have shades of grey in them,it makes them more real than self righteous characters like Wonder Woman,Captain Marvel and Supergirl
Part of the reason Jessica Jones was a hit

The other reason why the genre of FSHs is picking pace now is women telling these stories as directors and writers
The characters feel more real and relatable. The fanbase towards FSHs is increasing so more and more shows are taking female leads like the new Watchmen

In recent superhero movie/series even the Accomplice are some strong females like Okoye,Nakia and Shuri in Black Panther,Black widow in Captain America/Iron Man,Starlight in The Boys,Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Domino in Deadpool
It shows things are changing for FSHs

Over the time even the way FSHs use to dress has changed,now they wear more combat friendly and comfortable clothes with less skin show
Shows like Jessica Jones,The Boys and Supergirl even addressed this fact
Next thing we need is changing names with suffix like widow/witch

Things are changing but we have long way to go,waiting for Brahmastra to see another attempt of India in superhero genre after the epic fails like Eklavya
FSH standalone movie is still a far fetched idea for India, so till then lets wait for Black Widow and Wonder Woman 2
