I believe these women. I admire these women. And I know their stories too well because they are the same as my friends, colleagues, lovers, sisters, mothers, aunties, and neighbors.
Too many men’s default setting is disbelief. Too many corporations create mountains for women to cross in order to be heard.
Effective immediately, I will no longer be doing any business with @OkayAfrica. Once their demands are met (as outlined in their statement), I will determine if a future partnership is the best way forward.
To close out our current partnership, I am demanding that @OkayAfrica give 100% of all profits from the sale of my remaining merchandise in the OKAYSHOP to Antoinette, Hanan, Ivie, Olabisi, Oyinkan, Sinat, Winnie, Damola, Rufaro, Juliana, Mumbi, Chika, Senzeni, Josephine, & Simi.
These women have supported my career consistently and it’s my duty and honor to support them. If we claim to love and protect Black women, we must believe Black women and amplify Black women’s truth.
