Hearing of the police who took selfies with two murdered sisters being bailed, it reminded me of the case of Omega Mwaikambo. He lived in a block next to Grenfell and found a dead body placed outside his front door within the block.
His phone served as a witness to the apocalyptic madness and he took a video of the man on the floor wrapped in plastic. Maybe he wanted to let the persons loved ones know that he was dead, maybe he just wanted to let people know quite how serious the failure of state had been
Maybe he wanted someone else to witness this insanity and help him understand what exactly was going on. He posted the video online, not as a selfie but as a plea begging to know what the hell was happening.
That day he was contacted by a journalist asking about the footage. The journalist set him up to be arrested and Omega, despite having no criminal record, was given no bail and spent 3 months in prison. Upon release he was berated on Newsnight in the most bizarre "interview"
Not enough people even know this happend
