At a con last November, I brought up @WynonnaEarp as a show that fans of Buffy might like, followed the same mold of a Chosen One w/ a trusted group of friends has to save the world. Two old white guys groaned...the gay Black man on the panel said "tell me more."
So I did and I hope he checked it out. Another man on the panel who mentioned that he "tried it" then said he might give it another shot. (These tweets bcs I saw a quote earlier saying WE was "Buffy's queer, Canadian little sister" and I really love that take.)
Additionally, one of the old dudes who scoffed (and was also a condescending shit weasel) recommended a book to me after the panel bcs it had BtVS quotes or something? Then cautioned me because it was horror and vewwy scawwy. 🙄
I nodded and said that I was aware of that author's genre, he cautioned me again and wandered off. I wanted to tell him to STFU...instead I was stiffly polite. Ugh.
The Buffy panel I'd been on was really fantastic though. Still makes me roll my eyes that I was the only woman on it.
