. @GovRonDeSantis& #39; coronavirus messaging — by all of his agencies — has been bizarre.
Basic questions go unanswered. Decisions that affect millions of people aren& #39;t announced. And when they are announced, there is often no written clarification. https://twitter.com/zacjanderson/status/1276590486887825410">https://twitter.com/zacjander...

That& #39;s what all of the pro- and anti-DeSantis articles by national outlets have missed.
They haven& #39;t been here to witness all of the confusion over DeSantis& #39; actions, which in most cases is entirely preventable.
Announce a major order? Issue a Q&A. Change data? Say so and why.

It isn& #39;t just the press who has noticed this. Republicans have noticed it. Local officials have noticed it.
@scontorno and I wrote about it in April. Nothing has changed.
And again, these are really simple, noncontroversial things. https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/04/11/why-ron-desantis-popularity-has-taken-a-hit-since-the-pandemic-started/">https://www.tampabay.com/news/heal...

One example: In April, @FLDEO realized that hundreds of thousands of unemployment applicants had to reapply — a HUGE deal.
Was it announced? No. I had to read through records they posted online and infer it, then ask them about it.
Why? https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/04/28/floridians-deemed-ineligible-for-unemployment-should-reapply-state-says/">https://www.tampabay.com/news/heal...

Another example: In May, DeSantis announced in a tweet that barber shops were reopening.
Was there any written guidance to go along with it? Nope.
I ended up citing the thorough guidelines by Georgia and Texas. https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/05/08/barber-shops-and-salons-can-reopen-monday-in-most-of-florida-gov-ron-desantis-says/">https://www.tampabay.com/news/heal...

There are too many more to keep posting. But this one was really strange.
DeSantis made a huge error affecting 6 million people, which was repeated by news outlets across the state for hours.
But no one on his staff corrected the record. https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/03/30/south-florida-urged-to-stay-home-until-mid-may-desantis-says/">https://www.tampabay.com/news/heal...

And, of course, there was no written press release or order to go along with DeSantis& #39; announcement that day — there almost never is.
Just today, there was an order about bars closing, announced in a tweet. Was there a written order to go along with it? Sure, two hours later.
