Unscientific religious views that brand homosexuality as a "sin" must be condemned by everyone who are committed to the idea of justice. It's not about opposition to any religion, it's about millions of people across the world whose faith and identity are at odds with each other.
There are many tyrannical theocratic states in the world where homosexuality is considered a capital crime. Millions of people are being born everyday as criminals. If those laws are based on your religion, then it's your duty towards humanity to reform your religion.
Your individual beliefs are no one else's concern. You may believe homosexuality is a sin, you may believe planets affect your future and you may believe unicorns exist, for all we care. This is not about you, but about a community that is being persecuted for being who they are.
The LGBTQ community has been fighting a long battle for dignity of life and equality before law. But even today, they are stigmatised and dehumanised across the world and it's high time the religious communities recognise the role their religions are playing in this oppression.
Those who claim that they don't need to endorse homosexuality to stand against persecution of gay people sound like this: "I don't agree with you being able to talk to people, but if someone tries to shut you up, I'll stand up for you".
