Personally, I think Jaden McNeil should be expelled from KSU, but for a slightly different offense.

Jaden McNeil utilizes the messaging app Telegram to order his thousands of Groyper followers into a frenzy. This morning, he advocated for a “Groyper war”
For months, Jaden has been instructing his followers to comment, attack, and discredit anyone who criticizes him or his beliefs. This has extended to the former Student Body President and Vice President, Collegian writers, and any random students that criticizes him
For anyone who wishes to view and watch Jaden’s criticisms of others, look no farther than the following link: https://t.me/s/jadenpmcneil
I know a concern over the past few months has the been the First Amendment- individuals do have the right to express their opinion without government intervention. This freedom does not extend to acts of harassment that are “pervasive” and “severe.”
This case is unique because of the online nature of it, but shouldn’t a university punish someone who ordered thousands of people to verbally abuse a student in person, or through physical letters? Happening over social media doesn’t diminish the impact of Jaden’s actions
While I personally find Jaden’s “jokes” abhorrent and disgusting, I will begrudgingly acknowledge his rights and freedom to make said comments, as much as it physically pains me to see other students become uncomfortable and scared by such comments.
However, I cannot find any valid legal reasoning to support a student advocating for the personal and professional destruction of his peers.
The First Amendment allows for discourse, and former Supreme Court justices have acknowledged college campuses as “marketplaces of ideas.”

Blocking all dissidents, doubling down on your comments, and doxing your opposition is not discourse- it’s harassment, plain and simple.
Tl;dr I personally believe the university has grounds to expel Jaden, not solely because of the content of his statements, but due to his abuse of his fellow students through his online orders calling for the harassment of anyone who criticizes him.
