So recently @ira_kenya announced that they will not pay health insurance premiums for Covid-19 treatment if a patient seeks treatment in a private hospital. I am here seeking guidance from @ira_kenya on what is expected now that public facilities are full. Should we die at home?
Our Covid-19 ICU beds are fully occupied. It means contracting the infection now and needing ICU for private insurance policy holders have no safety net. @ira_kenya did not tell us what to do in this case.
So for all of you lucky 10% Kenyans with a medical insurance policy, kindly note that you are already on your own should you get sick with Covid-19. You will have to pay out of pocket for treatment. Worse still, there is no guarantee you will get a bed in ICU should you need it.
