So I want to tell a story...
I saved a woman's life today and I know I risk all. But I couldn't watch her die or choke on her vomit.
I am definitely not going to tell my parent cause they would freak out.
I left the office today with the mindset of getting home very early, and spend the weekend at home, as I spend most of the week at my friend's place cause of the distance...
I closed from work and took a bus going to Ikeja, after highlighting the bus, a took my phone out of my bag, I saw lots of messages on WhatsApp, I want to respond to all, cause they were all from my Pals, and from the little I could read from my notification bar, it made me laugh
While I was listening to my VN sent by a friend I just met, while I was approaching EcoBank at under bridge, i stopped for a while to cross and listen to the rest of the VN, was when I noticed this woman...to me she just looked epileptic, but then I notice she started folding up
And crouching to one side vomiting, it was so difficult for me to watch, I was still on the otherside of the road, people were just passing (but I do not blame them, but my instinct told me she was having a stroke) she was aged.
. In my mind I was like this would just be one of those days I say people fall and die on the road. But today it was different, I crossed to the other side and at this time I was in front of glass house. I walked past the woman, still struggling to vomit and breathe....
I kept on walk, but then I looked back one more time and I couldn't take any step further... I walk back watched her for a bit and by this time people were beginning to cluster her, I screamed would you all move back and let her be, collected nylon from on man...
Placed my hand on it and tried to lay her flat on the ground, while I was going that a man came and joined me, we were able to stretch her out and turning her head to the right, so air could go through easily (I know this cause my immediate younger sister is a nurse)
She was there lifeless, people made lots of comments, I wasn't even paying attention to, see the way I was so deep into making her safe, another woman came around and tried to help too, she guided us through the process...
Applying pressure on her chest, bought us gloves, I changed the nylon in to the gloves, the other man who help me stretch her left already, but another man came and continued, another man was on the phone using so many line to call the ambulance, they never came...an hour past...
In my heart I kept asking my self...what are you doing?! It could be Covid19? Do you even know what you're doing?! But I couldn't answer my questions.
All I knew was I just wanted to make sure she didn't die, I kept on call her from time to time...Mama!!! You would not die...
Then I saw light flashing from a white bag, we all believed to be her bag, a lady wore a glove and took the phone, dialled the last number that called in, but he said he was at Ajah!!!! Everyone shouted ahhhhh, Ajah keeeeee!!! The call to the health help was endless....
People called the Ambulance to beg, to curse, the plead they never came, but at about past 7...a white pick up van came (a veterinary Lagos van) before this we had give her milk, someone used 'Ventoline' ( I'm not sure of the spelling tho) inhaler and administered it to her...
And then this man took over 45min to wear a glove, I just hope she is fine....Mama I don't know you but I just had this strong urge to help you I hope you would be okay...I'll pray for you this night before I go to be....the end.
I just don't know what it was that entered me today...but I hope she is fine now, and thanks to the red cross lady who was there to help. It could have been anyone Mum you know. Good night tweeter family. People gave me a name, the girl on the green dress, the nurse, name it...🙌
