I think two of the biggest philosophical mistakes of the 21st Century are going to be the belief that bigotry is the root of all evil, and the belief that utopia can be achieved if only we could forcefully purge it from every human mind.
I honestly think that believing this drives people insane. It turns them into insulting interrogators of their own thoughts/feelings and forces them to develop an obsession with the secret thoughts of others.

They so desperately want to read your mind to see if it’s bigoted.
The reason this moral panic has lasted for so long is because there is no way to objectively disprove an accusation of bigotry. The only thing you can do is try to draw public attention to you fighting against bigotry as proof of the purity of your mind.

Hence, where we are now.
I feel uncomfortable typing this, because I know bigotry exists and that it’s bad, but people are lying to themselves about “thinking through and overcoming prejudice.”

They’re perceiving prejudice in themselves where, possibly, none exists. And developing all new prejudices.
We’ve reached a ground level paradox of prejudice. Where one of our prejudices is the idea that some people have innate prejudice by virtue of their existence. It’s a prejudice about prejudice. It’s confusing people and making them feel very angry and ashamed of themselves.
What am I even rambling about at this point? Too much coffee, eh?
This made me imagine a machine that analyzes brain waves & can, with 100% accuracy, tell you whether you’re bigoted. It’s sitting on stage in a big theater. No gradations. No context. Only results are “bigoted” or “not bigoted.”

How many would go up there in front of the crowd?
