can you imagine how tiring it is for south asians to see these k-pop acts CONSTANTLY reducing our culture to an aesthetic for their mvs and performances? for reference, 2 days ago we saw 2 members of a fairly famous gg wearing a bindi and mathapatti for their stage.
if it's not CA, it's just some really tasteless joke/dance routine based on negative stereotypes about us and our culture. and EVERY SINGLE TIME we try to voice our opinion, people shut us down.
it's incessant and we're TIRED. we expect better from groups with millions and millions of fans. these are a bunch people in their 20s who should be held accountable for their actions. people fuck up, they apologize, learn from their mistakes and grow as individuals.
and that is ALL we want. acknowledge the fact that south asian culture does not exist to be exoticised. being so aggressive, branding every opinion as an attack is just disrespectful because it shows that you don't care. and that you infantilize your favs.
k-pop is not that serious. period. but there are certain issues that go way beyond it and it's your duty to address them and hold people accountable for their actions.
