Hey guys! I have what I feel is becoming an increasingly unpopular opinion:

Boco is actually a very strong and significant character, even if I do not want him to return to the show.

(A thread)
In terms of personality, BoCo is a very mature and composed diesel, but can be impatient and irritable. He’s kindhearted, and likes to help others out.

Contrary to popular belief, he is not a “diesel Edward”, but they do reflect different methods of sympathy and support.
Edward will constantly put others before himself, soothing and comforting them. BoCo will actively try to look for a solution to a problem, and won’t coddle those who do wrong or let them destroy his mental health like Edward. Emoting VS. acting on something.
One of my favorite BoCo moments that came to mind when writing the previous tweet was in Double Teething Troubles. BoCo didn’t say “it’s all going to be okay” to the upset twins, he said “if I were you I’d get back to work”. He still helped them, he just advocated for action.
His straightforwardness can potentially be seen as a good or bad thing, and I’d love to see more stories about it.

He fits a lot of the kind stereotypes that saturated the cast as years went on, but with flaws and different methods of expression to give depth that others lacked.
Also keep in mind how organically he fits into the early classic series/RWS.

There wasn’t an abundance of super kind characters back then, and although BoCo is flawed those flaws only distinguish him from other, less fleshed-out mellow kind characters.
In terms of importance, BoCo is also incredibly crucial to the bigger engines reflecting on their closed minded racism(?) towards diesels.

BoCo serving as a sign for good diesels being out there presents so many great story dynamics and oppurtunities that are yet to be explored.
However, despite all these things that make BoCo such a fun character, I do not want him to return.

The world of the CGI series lacks the depth of what came before, meaning BoCo would lose his position as an example of good diesels.
Secondly, there are enough “kind” characters in the main cast already.

Sure BoCo is flawed and has more depth than most “kind” characters, but I do not think that is sustainable in a show that has made its cast of strong-personality protagonists so harshly one dimensional.
(Also he just looks so classic and cool, I love his design).

So all in all, I think BoCo is really great, and I really am excited to write stories about him in the future.

Let me know what you guys think!😁
