The first time I knew there was something called insecurity, I was 8 years old.

Hired assassins came to the house next door and murdered the retired police chief who lived there. They left the neighborhood through our house.
That was when I had my first insomnia episode. For two weeks,I kept imagining one was still somewhere in the house and so I kept vigil
When I was in secondary school, fully armed men came to rob the girls only boarding school I attended.
Thankfully, they did not gain access into the hostels. This made me realize insecurity was bigger than I thought and I just assumed nothing could be done about it.
Fast forward February 2011, I got robbed. The dude made away with my laptop, blackberry bold 2, gold chain, 47k cash amidst other things. Afterwards, I just sort of completely lost faith in Oyo State security.
Power changed hands shortly after and I assumed it was going to be business as usual.

HE Abiola Ajimobi made me realize that no matter how headstrong a people are, with the right set of people in power, things would be different. In the past, we only saw development on paper.
A perfect example of paper development I know is that of the road that leads to my parents home. It was tarred at least three times on paper before the Senator Abiola Ajimobi led administration actually tarred it for real.
I remember a day in some random keke napep on my way home, an old woman did not stop praying for whoever saw to it that the road got tarred for real.
With the Senator Abiola Ajimobi led administration, I also realized that if your environment is conducive enough, investors would naturally come around. Job opportunities will increase and generally, there will be visible development.
For all the time I did not have to report any case of robbery or assault at the police station, for all the times I forgot to lock the doors at night, for all the money my parents did not spend on maintaining cars cos of our terrible roads,
for those 13th month full salaries HE paid, for the visible face-lift this state experienced and many other reasons, I naturally started to admire HE, Ajimobi.
In 2019, I was privileged to know him better. I must say to know HE Ajimobi is to love him.
The first thing I noticed about him is his love for organization. He was so neat! Everything had to be in place all the time.
He was also result-oriented. I admired that a lot about him but the person he was to his family was the part of him I admired the most!
A loving husband and an absolutely caring dad. He was super smart and very funny.
For me, I would always remember that there was a man who changed Oyo State for the better. He achieved the supposedly unachievable.

He lived a purpose-driven and impactful life. His legacies would live on.
Travel well Senator Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi.

Thank you for everything.
