Following up on a suggestion @friscojosh made earlier this week, looking at targets in different depth buckets. I analyzed with players have the highest target market share by these three air yard buckets:
-Short (<5 air yards)
-Intermediate (6-12 air yards)
-Deep (>13 air yards)
I made charts showing the top 20 players in target share based on the air yard bucket listed in the title. For the short passes, I made two charts - one including RBs and one excluding RBs, since they make up the majority of these targets (screens, flats, etc.).
And here are the charts for the intermediate and deep target buckets. Thanks to @nflfastR for the data!
Finally, it should come as no surprise, but the further the target, the more fantasy points a target is worth. This table highlights how many fantasy points a target is worth based on the air yards bucket.
