Real warning here for pub & restaurant owners that imagine they can make a bit more money by ignoring some of the public health rules. Thatâs been a disaster in the US and already closures are being ordered

And now Florida also shuts the bars again, from the enormous increase in cases it looks like the virus returned to exponential growth as soon as they reopened https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/504704-florida-to-close-bars-after-shattering-record-of-new-coronavirus-cases">https://thehill.com/policy/he...
There are at least 5 US states that are seeing significant clusters emerging from the reopening of bars & JP Morgan said the best predictor of the new outbreaks was credit card spending in restaurants 3 weeks back. https://twitter.com/andrewflood/status/1276519803734368256?s=20">https://twitter.com/andrewflo...
I& #39;d spotted Grogan& #39;s posting last week that they were not responsible for the crowds of people in the area drinking outside without social distancing. It& #39;s worrying that some bars appear to be taking the piss before the 29th even arrives https://twitter.com/twitteration/status/1277207680357146625?s=20">https://twitter.com/twitterat...
Guardian coverage of the mess that has seen Texas having to start closing down only weeks after reopening and with a very considerable built in infection rate and - in 3 weeks - death toll https://twitter.com/andrewflood/status/1276913449512185857?s=20">https://twitter.com/andrewflo...
Texas and Florida reverse reopenings as US outbreak hits record - note in Texas they have also had to cancel elective medical procedures to free up hospital space - itâs not just the economy that takes the hit https://www.ft.com/content/13defc6a-2dfe-4955-ae11-3e0e837936f6">https://www.ft.com/content/1... via @financialtimes
And another pub suprespreader incident - 80 of those who tested positive with COVID-19 went to Harper& #39;s between June 12 and June 20. Five are "secondary infections," which means they were exposed by someone who went to the bar. https://eu.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/2020/06/27/85-coronavirus-cases-now-linked-harpers-east-lansing/3270972001/">https://eu.lansingstatejournal.com/story/new...
For once its worth reading the comments under this pubs FB announcement - this all happened very fast, it only reopened June 8th https://www.facebook.com/HarpersMSU/photos/a.10151816380466441/10157067000096441/?type=3&theater">https://www.facebook.com/HarpersMS...
Footage from inside bar after it had just reopened - itâs thought loud music adds a lot to risk as people have to shout over it and lean in to be heard https://twitter.com/iamkaishi29/status/1270213717901414412?s=21">https://twitter.com/iamkaishi... https://twitter.com/IamKaishi29/status/1270213717901414412">https://twitter.com/IamKaishi...

Singapore certainly seems takes the enforcement seriously, 5k fines & this is just drinking takeaway beers https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-53188941">https://www.bbc.com/news/worl...
Seeing several reports like this on Twitter of pubs flouting the guidelines with customers co-operation. This isnât a old school lock in situation lads, the longer you spend in an enclosed space the more likely it is you get infected & bring the virus home to your family
And when that happens itâs not just that some may die or be left with life long injuries from Covid. The pandemic starts up again and the only choice is to keep pubs closed because you & the owners could not be trusted to care for the health & lives of those around you.
A wedding super spreader event rather than a pub where the groom appears to have infected over 100 people and then died a couple of days later. Pub conditions are ideal for super spreader events to occur https://www.outlookindia.com/website/story/india-news-wedding-causes-biggest-covid-19-infection-chain-in-bihar-groom-dies-over-100-test-positive/355768">https://www.outlookindia.com/website/s...
Back to the USA where itâs the 4th of July weekend coming up and already 3 restaurants have had to close in just one district of Baltimore due to #Covid19 outbreaks. It feels like no one in Ireland is watching & learning from the US right now
One of the key lessons is that at first reopening looked OK because elderly & vulnerable sheltered while the young went out. So it spread invisibly through younger cohorts for weeks before being brought back home, making enough sick that the cases became visible
It appears the Vintners are at least aware of the danger that the significant number of pubs breaking the public health advice are putting not only health at risk but also the question of whether pubs can remain open in future. https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1278608977992060928?s=20">https://twitter.com/newschamb...
Pittsburgh joins the roll call of places forced to close down bars again shortly after reopening due to measures not being followed - NPHET seem to be hoping Vintners can talk sense into rogue publicans ignoring the profit motive thatâs driving this
Iâve also got some DMs about other pubs across Ireland with similar scenes - this despite two large outbreaks in family settings this week where 14 & ânearly 20â were infected at a single event https://twitter.com/slickfixation/status/1278819775775473666?s=21">https://twitter.com/slickfixa... https://twitter.com/slickfixation/status/1278819775775473666">https://twitter.com/slickfixa...
