It feels like thread time to me! And as we all know, this one is in honour of #Worldwellbeingweek . So it is our #toptenwellbeingtips , and in true Bonnett style there are about 12
Now, these are in no particular order, other than the number 1 spot. Some are ideas, some are mindfulness tips, some are random things, but all contribute to the well-being of the person who has suggested them
SORRY! Just got waylaid by having a Teams department meeting with Mrs James, which despite being work is actually very good for my #wellbeing because she makes work wonderful 😍
So, without any further ado, it's number eleventy-two on our #toptenwellbeingtips list!!
And this more of a mindfulness tip I guess. But it's a thing that always chills me out, and makes me feel comforted. It's getting your comfies on.
Now this may sound a bit random. But when you have had a bad day. You are stressed. Or upset. But you walk through the door and close it behind you get your comfies on, and you have physically taken that day off. And it doesn't matter what you look like. It's how you feel
I currently favour my 17yo's old jogging bottoms that he has grown out of and a oversized hoodie, with bed socks and slippers. It's like a clothes hug. A cl-ug.
At number whatever it is we have food. And enjoying it.
Food is important because it nourishes our body and we NEED it to give us energy.
Healthy, nutritious food is obviously best. It will make you feel physically better and it will make you feel mentally better.
But you know what? You fancy a McDonald's? Have one? You want a biscuit? A chocolate bar? ENJOY IT.
Eating is very important for well being because of the physical benefits of nutritious food, the effects physical health has on mental health, and the fact that you can never be truly happy if you are hungry.
An ex @johntaylorhigh student once told me that her mum had a saying "First we eat, then we talk". Because you always feel better when you have had something to eat.
And then there is the general enjoyment of eating socially. Eating with family and friends is wonderful way of spending time together. There is a reason food is at the heart of most religious and cultural festivals
So, to sum up, pie= #wellbeing
Ok so RIGHT NOW seems like the perfect time to include one of my ABSOLUTE MOST IMPORTANT #wellbeing top tips. This is because I am watching the @BBCGlasto coverage and watching the Foo Fighters set from a couple of years ago.
And even though they are not a personal fave, who doesn't love a bit of Foos? They are like a lovely uncle come to visit.
So MUSIC. MUSIC is a #toptenwellbeingtips from me, and several others
In fact the wonderful ex JT girl @georgiajb99 says:
(And she is one of the greatest dancers EVER)
Put on music to match your mood and FEEL IT!!
Put a sad song on and CRY (this really helped me to cry when I lost my dad), put on an angry song and RAGE AT THE WORLD, put on a happy song and DANCE LIKE YOU DON'T GIVE A MONKEY'S UNCLE
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT- MUSICAL SNOBBERY IS FOR LOSERS
JUST ABSORB WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD
Also, just wearing your favourite band tshirt, being part of that fandom, listening to your fave band can do so much for your wellbeing because it's you and them against the world and they are then when you need them and they belong to YOU
I could write you THESES on this !!!
But, again, to summarise: @GreenDay = #wellbeing
(SIDENOTE: this is probably my favourite EVER photo of me, taken by a friend from a different part of the stadium when we saw @springsteen a couple of years back)
Next for a #toptenwellbeingtip that is a lot more low key. It is SLEEP.
A good night's sleep WILL help you feel physically and mentally better. So try to get regular sleep. I KNOW it is hard, particularly at the moment, when we are not really doing anything to tire ourselves out because we are stuck at home
But there are things we can do to help. I swear by lavender oil. (Wilko do it for ÂŁ2.50, Boots for about ÂŁ6 quid.). Because I have lavender oil on a lavender bag next to my pillow I associate it with relaxation.
But also other sleep related mindfulness techniques can help. When you first get into bed, just take a minute to FEEL how comfy and snuggle it is. Do it when you have the whole night ahead of you, rather than in the morning when you have to try and drag yourself out of it
Another mindfulness trick is to start with your toes and bit by bit clench every muscle then relax it, and FEEL that relaxation.
So BED = #wellbeing
At number whatever, and making perfect sense coming after @GWandShows - my next #toptenwellbeingtip is spending time in your garden.
Now, is oldies are already into our gardens. And some of you youngsters are. But gardens can be so beneficial for our #wellbeing . Be it the physical work of being out in your garden, breaking a sweat, digging, planting and mowing, and the feeling or tiredness it can bring
Or the satisfaction and achievement of having grown or tended to something, be it plants, flowers or fruit or vegetables.
Or the mindfulness of using your senses to appreciate what is in your garden. Most of my favourite plants SMELL AMAZING, like my wisteria, may pink roses, honeysuckle and lavender
I know @moke57 would agree with this. As would @MrsRjths, who responded to my #wellbeing tips request like this:
So literally kids- take time to go outside and smell the roses. Stop and chill for a bit. Maybe now the lawn for your parents. But get out into the garden and actually LOOK at what is there. SMELL the flowers. Lie on the grass and FEEL it.
And if you grow veg, TASTE them.
So there you go : pink roses and honeysuckle = #wellbeing
