Rep. Chip Roy getting emotional about how Democrats are spending time worrying about people who live in DC rather than "real Americans". Usually Republicans aren't quite so blatant, but it's getting more common.
Del. Stacey Plaskett of the US Virgin Islands says making DC a tax haven would be a mistake, that it's not a good deal for territories. Statehood is the answer.
Rep. Andy Harris, the only Republican from Maryland, arguing for retrocession of DC to Maryland even though Maryland doesn't want it.
Multiple Republicans arguing for retrocession to Maryland even though it directly contradicts their arguments about how it's dangerous for the seat of the federal government to be surrounded by a state.
Rep. Jamie Raskin points out that 92% of federal government employees live in states, not in DC, and the vast majority of people living in DC are not federal workers.
So what happened to the #DCstatehood vote? They suddenly switched to talking about the Pulse memorial.
