It's only been two days since the Rethinking ‘Diversity’ in Publishing study was published and a service that suggests reading lists for primary and secondary aged children in the UK is blocking people for pointing out that their lists should be more diverse. https://twitter.com/AllanaG13/status/1276168967384637441
If everyone in publishing who was appalled by the study and honestly does want things to change then we need to call this sort of behaviour out otherwise how can we have a meaningful discussion about this?
Also, if @SchoolReading really are reading 15-20 books a day and they can't find a single one written by or about a Black or POC person to recommend then something is terribly, terribly wrong.
Oh and @SchoolReading, don't think you can tweet this to show that you do recommend these books when it's actually a list complied by @rapclassroom and @ksandsoconnor for @BooksForKeeps. http://booksforkeeps.co.uk/issue/229/childrens-books/articles/beyond-the-secret-garden-england%E2%80%99s-white-and-pleasant-land
And they've blocked me...
