So many thoughts on the "purge" that is happening right now. Going to only be talking about hotfixes relating to it until it all calms down and I get my thoughts on it sorted.
Thoughts sorted/calmed down. Obviously we should support those sharing their stories, that is not up for debate. There are several severities of allegations and I do think people need to be more careful of piling the clearly illegal ones with the misconducts/dumb advances.
Companies distancing themselves from the accused is likely purely out of self protection/PR and shouldn't automatically be seen as being an ally, especially considering previous track records of some. This is a mistake I made with the hotfixes. Similarly, HR is NEVER your friend.
As for Method, many knew Josh was a creep but the severity of that wasn't known to all members under the Method banner. I've seen some footage of terrible mental health due to this already. Most feel shit enough about the situation as it is. Piling on doesn't help anyone.
If people are friends with/know the accused that doesn't automatically mean they're also responsible and can be "gone after". Mob justice is dangerous as they likely don't know the full story. Read/process everything, support all (even the lied to) victims and learn from it.
Don't go on reply sprees spreading rage/vitriol/negativity, there's more than enough of that in the world already and unless you're actually involved, shut up. Be pissed off, but don't process said anger by being a dick to anyone. Go for a walk/punch the nearest (empty) box.
I'm sure some will disagree with some of the above, which is fine, I'm up for a respectful debate about things and changing my mind if I'm wrong. I am learning a lot and my opinions on people/companies/topics have been in flux these last few days and I doubt I'm alone in that.
Also, if people don't want to talk about this in public, DMs are always open.
After some discussion in this thread as well as privately, some points:
- Am obviously not supporting the abusers, if this was implied somehow I didn't word it well
- Less hate will make it easier for victims to come out with their stories, not harder
