It's always jarring to me that people don't understand that it's deeply disrespectful and insulting to just give top-of-your-head advice to people who have been struggling with a problem for years.

They don't seem to understand that when people are demanding a fix for a system, it's because they've tried all the standard advice and discovered that the system is fucking broken.
