It's always jarring to me that people don't understand that it's deeply disrespectful and insulting to just give top-of-your-head advice to people who have been struggling with a problem for years.

As if you think the problem is that they just never used their brain at all.

They don't seem to understand that when people are demanding a fix for a system, it's because they've tried all the standard advice and discovered that the system is fucking broken.

And it's unbelievably insulting to just assume it hasn't occurred to people to try to navigate it

And what's even worse is how they'll strut and preen like they've done you a HUGE favor and you should be grateful for them deigning to bless you with their *totally useless condescension*
