@LakesStiles challenged me to do 25 press ups a day for 25 days and tweet in support of mental health. Somehow I misunderstood this and thought running was also involved, which it is not. But I& #39;ve started now, so https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♀️" title="Achselzuckende Frau" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckende Frau"> Day 1/25 - first run since February, 25 over keen press ups.
Day 2/25. I walked a couple of miles, did 25 feeble press ups in two goes, and I& #39;d like to ask you all to avoid using the word "triggered" when what you actually mean is angry or upset. You& #39;re devaluing the word for people with #PTSD, for whom it means much more. #MentalHealth
Day 3/25 and I scampered across the fields after work. Did you know there& #39;s some kind of bacteria in soil which can allegedly lift your mood? Go on, have a prod at a patch of ground, see if you can encourage something to grow... #MentalHealth
Oh yeah, also did press ups. Weren& #39;t that bad. Not reached the stage of recording myself yet, but I did have witnesses.
Day 4/25.Finished work at half four, whoop! Stopped on the way home for a walk and did my 25 press ups against this stile. Bit of a cheat, but eh. If someone wants to talk to you and you don& #39;t know what to say, just listening and being there is enough. #MentalHealth
Day 5/25, went running in the rain. Bit grim, but the journey back had a cheerier view. Saved my press ups for inside today, but did them. :)
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a #MentalHealth issue each year, don& #39;t feel like it& #39;s just you; you& #39;re not alone.
Day 6/25 Completely forgot due to work knackeredness.
Day 7/25. Today I have done overtime on my overtime, but I need to do two sets of press ups and run three miles and it is raining. Please can I have some motivational words @LakesStiles?!
Day 7/25. I stopped whining and got my boots on. Running track was a bit crowded tonight, but sometimes the silent solidarity of casual acquaintances doing the same thing as you can give you enough of a boost to get you through. #MentalHealth
Day 8/25, I am an idiot and forgot again. Have worked 12 hour shifts for 12 of the last 14 days, in my defence.
Day 9/25. Three miles in laps of #HillfortWednesday Old Oswestry and I did yesterday& #39;s, today& #39;s and tomorrow& #39;s press ups because I have plans to do sod all tomorrow.
Extra bonus bodged gate closer for @LakesStiles
Day 11/25. Laps of the old colliery site today. Forgot press ups. Was distracted by this gate, which is a kissing gate unless you have a radar key, in which case it opens right up to let you through.
Day 13/25. An inviting path through the barley fields. Yes I am behind on press ups, but too much work equals not enough brain power to calculate how many, will catch up.
Day 15/25, which actually is today, excuse the catch up tweets. Round the local dirt tracks in the rain today. If I keep this up I might have to acquire a running type waterproof. Currently only have caving/mountain top ones. Did 25 press ups to avoid further deficit.
Day 17/25. All a bit grey and brown.
Day 19/25. Down by the canal today, lovely weather, only a handful of people, got mugged by a dog for pats while crossing the swing bridge. Picnicking family said sorry, but they go there so much dog thinks it& #39;s their bridge. :) Dogs = good for #MentalHealth @Belle_deBateau
Day 21/25. Not as flat as I thought it was, but I made it round, one grudging step at a time. Which is probably a metaphor of something.
Day 23/25. Herded off the farm by Ben, who seems to think I& #39;m a sheep.
Oh. Today is day 25/25, which means I probably ought to do something. I was going to give myself a day off today damnit.
I was absolutely going to go for a run but then someone rang up and asked for emergency marquee erecting assistance.
New numbering system. Run no 13, couple of days ago. Not as flat I was remembering.
Run 14. Delightfully flat. Can highly recommend that very solid stone seat @MyFaveBench
Run 15. Can you see a boat in this picture? No, because I overtook it. I am faster than a speeding narrowboat! Yes, I do know how fast a narrowboat goes. No, you can& #39;t take away from my achievement. I am chuffed, so there.
Run 16. Reluctant but made it. Is it possible to get drunk from inhaling meadowsweet? Said hi to my neighbours, but they were eating their tea so I didn& #39;t hang about.
So Run 17 was the one where a small dog tripped me up in the corn and I scraped my arm and bruised my knees....
And I skived a week and a bit off, because ouchy and then too hot. Back out today for the first time since injury, but lucky for me there& #39;s a speed limit here so I could take it slow.
