IF #BlackLivesMatter YOU WILL READ THIS:

A prisoner in Attica Correctional Facility has been in contact with a friend and I since 2009. #COVID19 Rates are the highest in the prisons. Our friend Marlo is currently on a hunger strike in the prison to bring awareness to both -
The George Floyd Murder and the conditions in Attica Prison and prisoners all around the world. Here is his words transcribed from the letter; greetings bro!
Thank you for giving me a platform to speak to whomever my voice can reach through your outlet. It is greatly
/immeasurably appreciated. I will do my best to call again on Tuesday. If I am able to, my thoughts will be more organized and I will definitely like to be able to further/fully express myself about what is going on and/or the connection between the fight in here and out there.
As soon as I had to hang up all kinds of thoughts surfaced that I felt I should have shared. Although I am living the reality of this crazy situation, a lot of my feelings/emotions of past experiences/trauma have been suppressed. I did not even realize it until I had to answer
questions. At that moment memories of past torture that I’ve experienced came to the forefront of my mind. In a certain way it was therapeutic. In another way it rekindled a flame in me that was smoldering and/or soon to fizzle out. I cannot/will not allow this moment in time to
escape me. Whatever I can do through my voice to help sustain/cheer the course of where we are at and/or going, that is what I am pledging to do. Anytime that you can provide a platform for me to speak, I will do my best to represent that platform well.
As you know I am on a
hunger strike. if you do not hear from me on Tuesday, they have taken me to the hospital. According to protocol once I have lost a certain amount of weight, they must take me to outside court to get a force-feed order. That is the goal right now. When you are taken to court
there’s a hearing in which I will be allowed to testify. I will use that as a platform also. The agenda is to get the issues on record. Until I am taken to a courtroom I will remain on hunger strike status. I believe it will be at least 30 days minimum. Right now they are not
documenting that I am not eating so it could possibly be more than 30 days. However many days, I’m all in.
I will write you again tomorrow. I’m going to lay down for a little while. I will put together some thoughts for just in case I am unable to call, you will still be able
to have something to share with the people. Hopefully we can create a dialogue that will help reshape criminal justice. If criminal justice is not reformed in this country, specifically the courts/presence, the next wave/uprising will be the fall of this nation for sure.
Solidarity,
 Marlo
