tw // sexual assault mention

rhys telling nesta to sit down isn’t the issue, it is the fact that a powerful (considered the most powerful) man used his power to scare a traumatised girl. (rhys is some 500 years old vs nesta being 23 as well as a survivor of sexual assault). +
on top of everything that happened in the war, she is still deeply traumatised by the fact that a man took away her choice and forced her to become something she was taught to hate. and then when she was forced to go to a misogynistic war camp that despises her +
and does horrible things to their women. rhys did not just politely tell her to sit down and he was not just frustrated that she didn’t obey his every command. she took her choice AGAIN when he forced her to obey him because yes he did. +
she struggled against his power and was shaking and what did he do? he smiled. smiled. smiled. smiled while she was visibly shaking because he was using his power to force her to do something against her will and knew that it scared her. he used her trauma against her. +
yes i talk a whole lot about the child spilling scene because it is easy to make fun of him for that but this truly was was set me off. i felt deeply disturbed while i read this scene and cannot understand how people call him a feminist when he does shit like this. +
i am not denying that rhys is also a survivor because he is but both he and feyre use others’ traumas against them (lucien, nesta, mor) and it is frankly disturbing how the audience doesn’t really blink an eye)
