/ Over the past couple of months, I watched the transphobia shitstorm burn in the sex blogging community, a community that Resonance Press is strongly linked to, through publishing books for both @EroticonUK & The Smut Marathon.
/ After talking to trans folk & others about the best course of action, I emailed Marie with my thoughts.
/ I said she needed to take strong & affirmative action to show the Smut Marathon is a safe space for all people, whatever their sexual or gender orientation, with no room for homophobia or transphobia.
/ Being an ally is taking action in that moment: it's what you do, not what you are or what you pay lip service to. Sadly, I saw a few, hollow words & no action. For this reason, Resonance Press has withdrawn as a sponsor & removed the existing book from sale.
/ I kept quiet about it up till now--I didn't want to be seen as a white, cis, ally with a saviour complex--however, silence is also complicity. Like all cis people do, I also need to learn and do better.
/ Transphobia, like racism, or so many other patriarchal structures that need smashing, has NO place in the world.
