So there are people out there who believe that a fight for equality and an end to discrimination is somehow a fight against them!

And so comes "White Lives Matter"

Yes it does, it always and always will, no one said otherwise

No one wants to take anything away from anyone

I like the idea that if you saw someone raising money for lung cancer, you wouldn't jump in saying "hey liver cancer matters" or "all cancer matter

It's not needed, it's known and accepted. no one would ever dispute that

This feels the same

The current movement should only have a deep impact on 2 groups of people:

- Blacks and other minorities who hopefully gain equality

- Racists who will be called upon for their acts

So if you have an issue with the message fuelling the movement, you might be the latter

I know some will read this and say:
"What about the looting?"

Simple, it's wrong and needs to stop as it harms the message and reinforces the very beliefs we need to change as a society

Something else that's wrong is White people who believe they have to make amend and apologise or give away something of theirs.

That's not what equality is.

Equality is being side by side, not one above or below the other one.

What is needed is education and acceptance from all parties that yes, discrimination and preconceived ideas exist in very one of us; when they become systemic, they influence on people's life greatly

These "ideas" have to be acknowledged by all before we can change them

This is what I mention above
Someone here shares an experience which is then acknowledged and all parties agree it's wrong.
It's simple.
It's a good start.
No victimizing, no misplaced apologies, just an EQUAL understanding https://twitter.com/NBCSportsSoccer/status/1275469840388706304?s=20

I mentioned education above, because a lot of those racist ideas come from the fear of the unknown.

I would bet that most racist person have never had a 1-1 interaction longer than 10 seconds with the people they hate.

They base their racism on media reports and hear say

As a simple example, I'll always remember when I was 6, I was the only black kids for miles around, most of the kids in my new school had never seen a black kid before and some of them started called me "black poo" (that's the best you can do at 6 guess).

Within a week of knowing me, that had gone and the kid that started it out of sheer innocence and maybe fear had become my best friend.

That's what education looks like too, it has to be taught and it has to be experienced too.

Anyway that's my verbal diarrhea on the current context.

Hopefully I stumbled upon this in a few years and things will feel different

Peace out
