OMFG this 🧵

Being a good or bad boss has nothing to do with gender.

And who wants to hear some bad boss stories? Because I have a few, and I’m bored, so I’m gonna share (the worst are gonna be down thread, so buckle up). https://twitter.com/modernistwitch/status/1275511165892931588
Hokay. So. Bad Boss the First (a man) was the manager of the coffee shop I worked at in college (a certain multi-national corporation with a siren in the logo). There was the time that he wouldn’t let me out of an opening shift even though I stayed up until 3am with my dad (2/?)
at the hospital. I got out of it anyway because I was so tired on my way in that I hit a wet patch and blew out my tires.

Then there was the Great Sbux Fire, where the mall our store was in LITERALLY CAUGHT FIRE. I was the shift supervisor this night (3/?)
Protocol at the time was for shifts to call management. The store didn’t have an AM, so I called the SM. He was supposed to be on call. He was not.

He finally called me back the next morning, after the mall was no longer on fire. (4/?)
Then there’s my favorite pair of directors, who I’m gonna call MK Ultra (MKU) and Crazy Cat Lady. MKU (a man) actually forced one of my favorite bosses (a women) to resign. CCL took over her position and... eesh. (5/?)
There was the time CCL ate an onion like it was an apple. In a meeting.

A very, *very* long meeting. (6/?)
MKU and CCL regularly yelled at my whole team, especially the head of sales. HoS butter heads occasionally over the course of working together, but he did *not* deserve to be ripped apart. (7/?)
Anywho, my favorite Crazy Cat Lady story is this: My position at the time was Sales/Marketing support, and I used to do a weekly analysis on the pipelines and what was sold. CCL made me do this by hand bc she didn’t trust excel. Like, she gave me hours long lecture on this. (8/?)
Wait, no, my actual favorite CCL story was when we had regular meetings on the bunnies she had in her front. Like, I LOVE animals. But I didn’t need scheduled updates on common wildlife. (9/?)
Let’s see... there was the (very brief) time I worked at a 10-person company. The CEO was a rich woman whose husband bought the company (which served a niche market) to keep her occupied. She never had a job outside of this, and it showed. (10/?)
The final straw for me came when she flipped out at me for a resizing product photos for the website based and made them a web-friendly size, instead of super large and in picas. It took her longer for her to finish yelling at me than it did to correct the photos (11/?)
