We may be seeing the tipping point of people tired of “Us vs Them” politics that disingenuously makes enemies out of anyone who doesn’t unquestioningly fall in line.
The “prove your allegiance” manipulations that require unquestioning loyalty disturb people because it’s a denigration of humanity — it says your loyalty is worth more than your thoughts.
Any movement or ideology that places your loyalty & your willingness to prove that loyalty above your individual thoughts & your right to differ is infantilizing. You resist it & rightly so — it’s an insult.
The far left is often criticized for fostering a “victim mentality,” but it’s better characterized as a child’s mentality. It treats its members as though they don’t know what’s good for them; questioning is condemned & obedience is demanded.
People are starting to see that there’s no winning on the ultra-left; you merely bide your time until it’s your turn to be made an example of. There is no “solidarity,” only postponement.
When you play the game, it’s an implicit submission to the power structure. You enter the arena. Check every brand/celebrity that signaled they’re in the game — you’ll find people demanding more in the comments until that more is nothing short of total debasement.
I watched the owner of a local bar — the most POC & LGBT friendly spot in the city — try to genuinely do good by posting support. Immediately the comments were “That’s not enough” & “Actually this is violence.” Give a hand, lose an arm.
People do not like to be abused but when the abuse comes from your own side under the guise of “education for doing better,” it takes more time to recognize it’s a well disguised power play.
Any movement that wants a better world does not build itself on the debasement of people, let alone people on its own side. Any movement that requires cruelty to succeed will eventually lose to the resentment it breeds.
A system that does not believe in the value of varied individual thought is a system that will repress that thought to “do what’s best for all.”

Believe in the value of your individual thought above all else or you’ll sell it to those who don’t.
