The Barry Sisters were a musical group that performed from the 1930s through the 1950s. They were the Jewish answer to the Andrews Sisters.
Among other songs, they popularized traditional religious hymns.
They also translated popular English songs into Yiddish.
They never really caught on, although they did go on the USO WWII circuit. Jews weren’t particularly popular in this period of US history.
(Sorry for using the word ‘popular’ so much in this thread, but the Barry Sisters were a pop group, and to be honest, their songs still slap.)
