I& #39;ve barely talked about the book I& #39;m planning to self-pub and I know no one cares, but I still want to tweet this in case a white writer sees it and it causes them to reflect & evaluate. I& #39;m writing a multi-POV book and some of those POVs were planned to be POC.

I& #39;m now reevaluating how I can better support marginalized communities. It& #39;s not by being proud enough to think that I can write their stories or use their voices. It& #39;s by uplifting own voices stories.

It& #39;s by writing a diverse world with well-rounded characters that authentically reflects the world I live in - without trying (and inevitably failing) to mimic the voices and stories that I don& #39;t have.

So I& #39;ll be doing some reworking & rewriting. It& #39;s on me for not doing enough research beforehand to realize I shouldn& #39;t use POC POVs. I love the characters & story I& #39;ve created, but that doesn& #39;t mean they need to be published!

I know there are lots of opinions about this. I& #39;m not trying to shame anyone. For me, it came down to, "Does this book, done this way, have strong potential to harm/hurt a reader?" After a lot of research & reflection, it seemed like the answer was yes. And I knew I had to change
