Has everybody on twitter/in the world lost their capacity to think?

Does anybody bother to check anything?

Even for a second?

I& #39;ve just seen a scam video shared, with so many tweepers lined up underneath piling on a situation they clearly know nothing about.

You see . . .

. . . now more than any time in our history, it& #39;s important that you - yes you - play your part in not spreading fake information.

News outlets across the world are closing down.

Great journalists are losing their jobs.

Fact checking is becoming a thing of the past.

And that means you, we, us - we become the gate-keepers of truth & fact & veracity.

If people bothered to check, they& #39;d see it& #39;s a parody account

I will add that @HillsongAu is a shit account, that isn& #39;t in any way funny & simply adds to misinformation & confusion out there.

But they don& #39;t care.

They& #39;re just another example of "ha-ha-we& #39;re parody" news accounts in the media landscape that are routinely accepted as real.

These allegedly satirical accounts can do great damage when people share & accept them.

Their fake news garbage then becomes part of accepted fact in people& #39;s minds.

And once something gets into people& #39;s mind enough - whether it& #39;s absolute crap or not - it& #39;s hard to change it.

So in a time when real, fact checked news is becoming increasingly rare - be wary of the stories you share

Is the story satire?

Does the story feed into your confirmation bias?

Is the "story" a set-up?

Is it a scam?

Have you checked the credentials of the person sharing it?

Because you can& #39;t sit on social media or around your table complaining about the standards of journalism & how nobody in the media does their job anymore (insert other media gripes you have) while you& #39;re doing exactly the same thing you& #39;re accusing them of.

Check your facts.
