On today’s episode of Men are TRASH:
Went outside to take a taxi but all the cabs on the stand were empty, no ac, so I decided to wait on one that would be on the go. This particular troll-looking cabbie was signaling me (had my AirPods in) but he had no ac, so no. Time HOT.
Went outside to take a taxi but all the cabs on the stand were empty, no ac, so I decided to wait on one that would be on the go. This particular troll-looking cabbie was signaling me (had my AirPods in) but he had no ac, so no. Time HOT.
Another cab came in a quick minute, clean, ac, tinted, red plate, plus I’ve taken this lil Rasta guy before so definite yes. Anyway, went in, the driver went out to get a drink & I saw the troll shaking his head at him.
When my guy came back in the car, he said the troll said imagine he’s been waiting out there for hours and saw me, ask me if mi a go Treez and mi nuh ansa (lies I answered 3x) & him wish the taxi that I took was some man Weh woulda carry mi go rape mi.
Now imagine, mi jus a go bout mi business, mi deevn know dis dutty man from nowhere and him a wish RAPE pon mi becaz mi nuh tek him likkle nasty taxi.
It hurt mi to mi core. That someone could think like that. That men in Jamaica don’t understand. My Rasta guy didn’t understand either, adamant bout a joke di man a mek... I had to bring his 16yo daughter into the conversation for him to get the seriousness of it...
but I’m still not satisfied with his response. He didn’t care at all and was so complacent with the ordeal. MEN DONT HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE. He wasn’t outraged because him “know him” and “a joke him a mek”. Before yuh run Weh di dutty man

It really neva dat deep. I just wanted a cab with ac. This man knows nothing about me, I have never seen him in my life and him a wish rape pon mi. I HATE MEN WITH EVERYTHING THATS WITHIN ME. I really wanted to cry (whenever I’m upset and can’t do the unspeakable).
The mentality of Jamaican Men. The things they find funny. The ways they try to exert power. I took away his power when I didn’t take his cab after he was calling at me for minutes. He felt powerless, the only way he saw to regain his power over a woman he doesn’t know was...
to wish she’s raped. There’s so much to unpack here. This also tells me the society knows EXACTLY whats happening and in true Jamaican spirit it’s comedy. Jasmine Dean is still missing. Today, showed me that Jamaica doesn’t care. Today, I tasted her FEAR.
I’m so so sad. And this triggered the worst migraine. I just wanted to get Tutti Frutti, Subway and do my lil grocery shopping. I am at liberty to choose whichever cab I want to take me wherever. I didn’t need some nasty man to tell my driver he wished he would rape me

Men know that rape is a woman’s biggest fear so they use it to terrorize us. You can’t be a woman, look attractive, going about your business, not answer to their catcalls/ any encounter and it just slides... NOOO! “She should be RAPED to teach her a lesson”.
I marked his face and I hope mine is the last he sees before he dies. Dutty mind and dutty heart like that nuh deserve fi breathe the same air as me. And just how casually he said it, like it’s normal, it’s something he’s gains strength from/perhaps have done. His days numbered.
YUH DAYS DEM NUMBERED YER TROLL-LOOKING BOMBOHOLE.
Doesn’t this country have a Taxi association to ensure that citizens are treated with utmost respect? For YEARS we have been complaining about taxi men and NOTHING. They are causing chaos on the roads, abducting & raping women, the nastiest behaviors... WHEN WILL IT STOP?
