A group of #cycling advocates asked me to sign a letter to expand infrastructure into racialized âhoods. I asked to have a couple of lines included that address equity. They declined my request, asked me to sign & encourage others to do the same. Such a violent response.

I am a cycling lover AND a Black woman. I will NOT support an infrastructure first, urban equity later approach. In fact, I will actively contest status quo cycling advocacy initiatives that lack the courage to acknowledge ALL forms of street based safety issues.

for equity. Yes, I said that out loud. Imagine if cycling advocates, womenâs street harassment advocates, harm reduction & mental health advocates & anti police brutality advocates joined hands to make our streets truly safe?
