To UVA folk: make sure you apply for CARES Act funds if you haven’t yet!

The $6 million that UVA got is yours!

I'm realizing that some of you believe that you don’t “qualify” for funds through the CARES Act because of financial aid, so I want to make this clear so you can get this money! The CARES Act has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR FINANCIAL AID!!!

It only has to do with how COVID-19 has impacted you since we left school in March. It doesn't matter how insignificant the impact may seem, you can apply! You qualify! Rent, groceries, medical bills, school supplies, etc. This is what it is for.

If COVID has affected your ability to work, increased family responsibilities, induced stress, then you can apply. The worst thing that can happen is them saying no, but you have to apply first!

Even if you think you don't qualify or will get a grant, apply anyways. We're all going through this pandemic together and one way or another, every single one of us have been affected. So I repeat, APPLY because the $6 million that UVA got is yours!
