“I ate what Mikey ate and now my stomach hurts”

What did Mikey eat?

“A plant. He thought it was mint”

-My school nurse interaction with a 4th grader.

Kids will NOT wear masks in school all day. It’s insane to think they would wear them for 5 minutes.
*crying*

What happened?

Aidan barfed in my mouth.

2nd grader in the health office when I was a school nurse.

Kids won’t wear masks or wash their hands or stop barfing on other kids.
“I’m hungry”

What did you have for lunch?
(15 minutes after lunch)

“I couldn’t eat because I sat across from Matty (name changed to protect the innocent) and he wouldn’t stop picking his nose and eating it so I didn’t eat my sandwich.”

-3rd grader

Kids won’t stop COVID19.
The kids weren’t all just gross but they did not have solid judgement in elementary school.

“My foot hurts”

“What happened”

“ I was kicking the ice blocks against the brick wall part of school”

Kids won’t wear masks.
*Sobbing, snot dripping all over, holding out finger*

What happened?

Andrew ( name changed to protect the low level offender) stapled my finger!

Kids can not be trusted to be responsible to wear masks, social distance and wash their hands enough not to spread Covid 19.
Daily occurrences in elementary school nurse office:

Kids walking in dripping, pouring out blood, from legs, arms, hands and especially bloody noses. All over their clothes, the floor, the class, playground equipment.

So much blood and snot and tears we kept clean clothes.
Immunosuppressed kids go to school.

Immunosuppressed, people with preexisting conditions teach and work at schools.

I have no answers to parents who are struggling to work and parent and TEACH at home but I just don’t know how we open schools safely in August .
PS. This thread sounds like the kids were awful in my office. I just want to say they were wonderful little beings and I miss them every day since I retired. So authentic. So vulnerable. So strong. And so adorable and hilarious.
