I worked in a comedy club BEFORE doing stand up and HOO DADDY let me tell you: comedians are GROSS!
One time I asked a “comedian” and “producer” what the accommodations were for the gig he hired me to do and he told me that they’d set me up in a hotel and signed off with “I even get to stay in your room ;)”
A very successful comedian twice my age gave comedy tips to my male comedian friends and continuously asked me to kiss him and texted me his hotel room number many times
My FIRST time on stage EVER a dude gave me this doozer of a “compliment”: “you were so funny I forgot you were hot.”
talked about being a virgin on stage when I first started comedy and many “colleagues” took that as an invitation to suggest themselves as candidates to help me “fix” that.

Funny how these same men were NOWHERE to be seen when large male audience members cornered me after shows
Comedy is hard enough without having to dodge advances from the people you work with. There is no HR department. And speaking up typically leads to less gigs and being branded “dramatic” and “hard to work with.”

ANYHOOTERS I QUIT STAND UP SO 🤷‍♀️
