So Africans is trending in Missouri rn. What I will say is it goes both ways so let’s not. I understand the xenophobic or disheartening comments you all have experienced faced. But please do not act like no Africans are offenders because many are and not just older generations.
A friend told me about a discussion she had with other Africans. They argued they felt no urge to go to George Floyd protests bc it did not affect them. Also listed many ways in which Black Americans brought this treatment on themselves and other hurtful things.
I was gonna finish this thread but don’t feel like it however her experiences are evidence that even young, highly educated Africans hold these beliefs. Also if it wasn’t clear she was African which is why they felt comfortable saying what they did.
Also these white institutions, especially science departments value Black Americans and Africans differently but that’s another story. Also someone in Harambe referred to me as a “guest” because I was Black American. Jokingly but still rubbed me the wrong way
