Tomorrow's #PokemonPresents is reportedly 11 minutes long and focuses on one big new #Pokemon title.

The consensus among those who monitor the industry is that it will be the TiMi Studios Pokemon mobile game.

But would that really be considered a "big game"? (long info thread) https://twitter.com/Pokemon/status/1275413725122629633
I see so many people dismissing the TiMi Studios/Pokemon collaboration as "just another mobile game".

But let's not rush to judgement; let's look at TiMi Studios history and recent accomplishments first and then decide.

Here is what TiMi Studios games achieved in 2019 alone...
But first, a bit of history...

Back in 2015, TiMi Studios' parent company, Tencent, allegedly wanted to make a League of Legends mobile game. But LoL creators at Riot Games declined the offer.

So Tencent had TiMi Studios create their own version. The result was Honor of Kings.
And downloads only continued to break records.

By the end of the first week, it had reached 100 million downloads.
(Beating the previous record holder Mario Kart Tour's 90 million.)

The first month? 148 million downloads (A record 2nd only to Pokemon Go's first month downloads)
So, why am I pointing out all of these numbers?

My point is that Pokemon's collaboration with TiMi Studios is more than "just another mobile game".

This project's reach has a much larger vision. An attempt by #Pokemon to continue the hype train started by the Pokemon Go craze.
The original Pokemon game release will turn 25 years old in February of 2021. Since then, the brand has continually evolved. It's reach has grown.

Pokemon has become the most profitable media franchise on the planet. Pikachu has been worth more than Mickey Mouse for a while now.
And, I admit, as a longtime fan of the traditional/mainline Pokemon game releases, it can be easy to forget that the brand has become much bigger than the original games.

But when you look at what the brand has accomplished in just the past 5 years, the bigger picture is clear.
So, If you were the Pokemon Company, a business whose main job is to make money and expand your brand's reach, would you not consider this partnership with TiMi Studios a "huge" project?

We'll find out for sure at tomorrow's #PokemonPresents!
