LRT: This is what I fucking mean when I say that Twitter crowds are allergic to nuance. And frankly encourage abusive discourse.
A favorite example for me was how Natalie Wynn's platforming of Buck Angel was legitimately harmful, hurt a lot of people, and Wynn's subsequent doubling down ruined her for a generation of fans.

Also trans Twitter's response to it was (largely, but not universally) abusive.
You can be rightfully hurt by someone's actions and treat them in ways that propagate and normalize abuse.

(This isn't an indictment of the good faith criticism that Wynn rightfully received, which was proffered by several insightful people on my timeline.)
At the time I accepted that Wynn hurt people. I still do. But being on Twitter became extremely triggering for a few days because it seemed like the mob couldn't distinguish between "you fucked up" and "you are literally subhuman." I
Frankly, it reminded me of being screamed at everyday for not being a perfect kid and told that my every mistake was a major deficiency of character that harmed my family.

And I have a hard time with how marginalized communities on Twitter don't seem to have reflected on that.
"Believe survivors" doesn't just mean "go hurt predators." It means "conduct your conversations in a way that centers the experiences and feelings of survivors." Because when anything less than that happens, you are the problem.
(Twitter's performative cancellation of Laura Jane Grace for literally just saying "thank you" to Buck Angel was even more egregious and seemed to go entirely ignored. AND IT LITERALLY HAPPENED WHEN SHE CAME OUT AS NON-BINARY. Learn some fucking humility.)
