I watched a "The Last of Us" play-through on YouTube a little less than two weeks ago in preparation for last week's "The Last of Us: Part II" launch, and just finished Part II last night.

I have a lot of thoughts on the game, many of which conflict with each other.
"The Last of Us: Part II" is an objectively phenomenal game. I don't think there's any argument against that. The graphics are great. The audio is great. The score is great. The gameplay is great. The voice acting is great.

It's a really fucking good game.
I can't think of a game that made me feel emotions on a spectrum as wide as this game did — not even the original "The Last of Us." It was a roller coaster of emotions for me. For that alone, the game is a success in my eyes.
I can think of only one aspect of the game that took away from all it did well, but even that wasn't enough to ruin the game or anything like that. It's a really good game.

Objectively, this game is probably a 9/10 or a 9.5/10. It's really fucking good.
There were certain parts of the plot that I wasn't a fan of. I won't say more than that publicly, just so I don't spoiler anything, but the few plot things I didn't love definitely impacted my subjective score of the game.

Subjectively, I'd probably give it an 8/10 or 8.5/10.
If the infected/zombies in "The Last of Us" scared you too much, "The Last of Us: Part II" is probably not the game for you, because the infected/zombies are the easiest evidence to show off the game's improved graphics, audio, and gameplay mechanics.

They are HORRIFYING.
The infected/zombies are significantly more horrifying, terrifying, and scary than in the first game. Their movement patterns are more erratic and difficult to track, their sounds are so much more... vivid(?), and they look DISGUSTING.

Developers did a really good job with them.
I want to write more about this game at-length, because I think it's worthy of the time and words. I want to get into this game's plot, and what it's about at its core. Keep an eye out for an article on that (with ample spoiler alerts/warnings, of course).
Overall, huge props to the team at @Naughty_Dog. They made a fantastic game — one that'll stick with me for a long, long time.
