Something missing from a lot of legacy business news is the question of why a piece of information matters. Time on spent reporting on what happens, but little time is spent reporting why it matters.
When we ask the question of why someone would pay for content, we have to think about what's in it for them. Just saying "here's what happened," unless you're incredibly niche, is unlikely to do it. There are likely too many other sources out there telling you what happened.
But when you pause and ask why what happened matters to the market, then you're onto something.

1. What impact does this news have on the rest of the market?
2. What are the long-tail outcomes of this news?
3. Are specific entities positively or negatively affected?
If you provide that context, a subscription becomes much easier to stomach and there's no such thing as fatigue. Connect the dots for people, save them time, and they'll be happy to pay.
