we don’t even get all up on our high horse about it. i’ve been going to synagogue knowing someone might try to kill me for being jewish since i was like 8. simmer down, jenna.

i went to synagogue in the deep south, not even sure if i believed in hashem, knowing i might be murdered because it’s my obligation as a jew to protect our stories and traditions. don’t even need a faith rock. just did it for funsies.

furthermore imagine being a parent and bringing your child to synagogue knowing full well there's a goodly number of people who would like to kill you. and you still go and bring your child. we do it because we know we are lucky to have jewish children at all.
